Usher Son Pool Accident: Singer Breaks Silence After Ex-Wife Tameka's Custody Filing
Usher broke his silence Wednesday following the hospitalization of his 5-year-old son and the singer was sure to thank the people who saved his life.
On Monday Usher Raymond V, who is mothered by Usher's ex-wife Tameka Raymond, was left in a coma after a near-fatal pool accident. The Grammy award-winning artist's son reportedly jumped in the family swimming pool to fetch a toy while in the care of his aunt and his arm got stuck in the pool drain, which led to him almost drowning. However, two men working on the house were able to free the boy.
"I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock," Usher said in a statement obtained by People magazine.

"I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son's life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews," he continued. "They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them."
The singer, whose full name is Usher Raymond IV, was reportedly not home at the time of the incident, but he is believed to have returned home just in time to travel with his son in the ambulance.
"I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering," the statement added. "I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family's well-being."
Tameka, who was married to Usher for two years, is said to be furious over the accident, which occurred one year after a Fulton County judge awarded Usher, 34, primary custody of her two youngest children, Usher V, 4, and Naviyd Ely, 3.
On Tuesday the celebrity stylist, 41, requested an emergency child-custody hearing to regain primary custody of the boys.
"Now that it's sunk in, she is livid. Usher has custody and won't let Tameka have the kids, even when he's out of town. She feels like the kids are being raised by his family or by nannies, when they should be with their mother," a source said.
"This is the straw that broke the camel's back," the source continued. "She could have had the boys [Monday], and they would have been fine. She knows that accidents happen with kids, but she should have been with them."
