Valve Announces 'Dota 2' Custom Game Contest With $30,000 Prize In Preparation For Frostivus
"Dota 2" is bringing back its Frostivus event this year and for the first time, they relegate the task to the community. Valve has recently announced that they are in for a custom game that they can use for their 2017 Frostivus event and are willing to pay for as much as $30,000.
In a recent blog post, Valve has announced that Frostivus is coming back along with a custom game contest. Creators have until Nov. 20 to submit their games that are "heavily themed around the Frostivus season."
It has been years since the game held the online event which can be described as Valve giving away to its community. Everyone can participate and win prizes but those who want to win big have to shell out a dollar or two.

This hasn't stopped them from going crazy about these custom games, however, as chat rooms fill with party invites to these games. Following the recently concluded Siltbreaker, it seems Valve is listening to fans and bringing seasonal events back into play.
Valve's requirement for submission is that it must be in multiplayer and can either be competitive or cooperative. Valve recommends involving the "Dota 2" community during creation and playtesting before submitting it to them. The winning creators will receive the cash prize and have the honor of having their game used as the official Frostivus event.
In addition to Frostivus, Valve is also set to release the "Dueling Fates" update which is expected two new heroes to the current pool. While the update is still under development, there is a high chance that it will be finished in less than a month possibly even just in time before the first Major in Hamburg.
Hopefully, Valve continues on this path fully reinstate seasonal events every year allowing newer players of the ever-growing multiplayer online battle arena to enjoy the likes of Frostivus, New Bloom, and of course, Diretide.
