'Vikings' Season 4 News: Amy Bailey on Death of Her Character
Fans have seen a great deal of death in the hit History Channel series "Vikings," including the tragic end of Amy Bailey's character.
The actress who plays the role of Kwenthrith was able to speak to Entertainment Weekly about her recent departure from the series. Bailey, explained that while her character was only on the series for a short period of time, she enjoyed her time on the show.
She stated that she feels lucky to have experienced being the character, as she found that it was similar to the way a real life character development. She said that throughout her three seasons on the show, she has seen her character struggle with her identity in a tremendous way.

Bailey stated that her character started as a young woman, who faced many obstacles and experienced much growth. She explained, "She also becomes a mother, which changes her priorities and she really discovers true love for the very first time in her life and that is her child. With all of her exploits, she's never really had any love in her life before her child."
Regarding her recent death on the show, Bailey revealed that she was already expecting it. She said that her pregnancy had limited her from pursuing the scenes that Michael Hirst had written for her.
She explained, "When I found out I was pregnant with twins, ['Vikings' creator Michael Hirst] had just written me an email and said, 'I just wrote the most awesome fight scene for you!' In the past, I'd always really liked doing my own stunts, because I come from a dance/athletic background. I called him up and said, 'Dude, I'm gonna be really big by the time we film that.' They knew that they had to write me out."
While her exit caused some sadness for some fans, there is still a lot to look forward to in the upcoming season.
"Vikings" Season 4 airs on the History Channel Thursday evenings.
