1.  Ramaswamy felt pressured to support BLM; abandoned corporate career to ‘speak freely as a citizen’

Ramaswamy began his speech by recalling how, in 2020, he served as the CEO of a “multibillion-dollar” biotech company that he founded: “In 2020 after George Floyd died, I was expected to make a statement in favor of the Black Lives Matter movement.”

“I chose not to do it,” he said. “I said that our purpose as a company is to make medicines, to make products and services for people who need them. But that was the beginning of a six-month journey that culminated about six months later in three prominent advisers to my company resigning.”

As the journey concluded, Ramaswamy asked himself: “Was I going to speak through the filter of corporate self-interest or was I going to speak freely as a citizen?”

He rejoiced that “from that moment forward, I chose to speak freely as a citizen.” 

Ramaswamy also promoted the work he has done since leaving his old job behind: “I wrote Woke Inc, I wrote Nation of Victims, I traveled the country calling out the woke-industrial complex in America.”
