Washington Redskins Roster Rumors 2016: Will Blackmon Opts To Stay, Signs Two-Year Contract
The Washington Redskins retained the services of veteran cornerback Will Blackmon after the player's agent confirmed that both parties have agreed on a new two-year contract. He played in a total of 15 games for the team last year after being acquired just a week after the season began.
Blackman was originally slated to return to the Seattle Seahawks before the start of the 2015 season, but was surprisingly cut before he could even play a single game.
The 31-year old intercepted two passes and was able to force three fumbles in those 15 appearances while playing in the slot and outside. Peter J. Schaffer was the one who confirmed the news of his client's return to Washington in an email that was addressed to The Associated Press. He is scheduled to enter his 10th year in the league, in a career that saw him play for several other teams before the Redskins, including the Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants, and the Green Bay Packers.

Drafted in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Packers, Blackmon went on to have a decent career with the team until 2010, highlighted by winning the NFC North title in his second season with the team.
But after the Packers initiated a roster cut down in 2010, he was released via injury settlement, which led him to the New York Giants. But his stint in New York was cut short because of another injury. He was re-signed just several months after he was cut because the team's secondary ran out of players due to injuries.
He won a title with the team in Super Bowl XLVI, defeating the New England Patriots in the process.
Although there is confirmation on his return to Washington, the team or his agent did not give any further details, including the salary involved in the new deal.
