Whitney Houston's Family to Premiere Reality Show, Fans Outraged

Whitney Houston's legacy will reportedly be chronicled on a new Lifetime television docu-series starring the late singer's daughter Bobbi Kristina, sister-in-law Pat, brother Gary and her mother Cissy.

After Houston died on February 11 at the age of 48, the television show will document the family dealing with the loss in 10 hour-long episodes.

Rob Sharenow, executive Vice President of programming at Lifetime, spoke about the decision to premiere the show on the network.

"The tragic loss of Whitney Houston left a void in the hearts of people all over the world, but certainly none more so than her beloved family," Sharenow said. "In this series, the multi-generations of the Houston family will bravely reveal their lives as they bond together to heal, love, and grow."

In a statement, Houston's sister-in-law spoke about planning to create the series for years with Whitney on the show.

"I have been working with Simmons Shelley over the past few years developing a project suitable for myself and our family. The unexpected passing of Whitney certainly affects the direction of the show," Pat said. "However, it is my hope that others will be enlightened as they watch our family heal and move forward."

However, fans of the late singer did not seem happy with the notion that Houston's legacy would be broadcast on television so quickly in the form of a reality show.

"Whitney Houston's family has agreed to do a reality show," one person tweeted. "Wasn't selling a picture of her casket low enough? I am appalled!"

Rapper and activist Chuck D also took to Twitter to sound off about the television show.

"Totally unnecessary, a sign of some not giving a (expletive) times," he wrote.

In 2005, the late singer was featured in a reality television series on the channel Bravo with then-husband Bobby Brown. However, the show only aired for one season after Houston refused to continue filming and the network declined to film without the singer.

The new reality show is scheduled to premiere later this year.
