Who Deserves the Conservative Religious Vote?
When Herman Cain decided to abandon his campaign, many of his conservative supporters were left scratching their heads.
Cain continues to influence voters by endorsing his former competition, conservative Republican Newt Gingrich, according to Fox 5 Atlanta reports.
Gingrich has said of Cain, “I am proud to know Herman Cain and consider him a friend...I know from having worked with him for more than a decade he will continue to be a powerful voice in the conservative movement for years to come.”
In reality, Herman Cain’s run has been stymied in direct relation to the numerous sexual harassment accusations made against him along with the alleged 13 year affair with business woman Ginger White. Cain has admitted to supporting White financially, and said they remained “friends” right up until his campaign began.
Nonetheless, polls indicate that supporters of Cain will throw support behind Newt Gingrich if Cain leaves the race for the White House.
Newt Gingrich is twice divorced and has admitted to his own infidelities adding to the demise of his marriages. He is currently married to Callista Bisek, who is more than 20 years his junior. His lawyers have long since disclosed the affair he had with Bisek. If Herman Cain has lost his steam as a result of indignities of a sexual nature (be they alleged or reality), how is it that Gingrich can become the new golden boy of conservatives?
So what exactly are the criteria for securing the conservative vote?
Recently, Randal Terry a pro-life Evangelical Democrat who is running in the primary against President Obama released an ad which went viral on the internet. In the ad, he implies that Obama is a sinner amongst many things.
Randal begins the advertisement calling the President by his full name, saying: “Barack Hussein Obama is the worst president in our history.”
He explains himself by citing Obama’s bailout of Wall Street, continuing dependence on foreign oil, casting aside of the Defense of Marriage Act and pro-choice stance.
He goes on to say that Obama “is guilty of the slaughter of unborn babies, defying the commandments of God. Who will stop this mad man?”
He concludes saying that he can stop Obama if voters “put principle over party” and vote for him in Iowa elections.
What do you think should be the priority of conservatives in selecting a representative?
