Windows 10 Smartphone News: Microsoft Set to Launch Lumia 950 and 950 XL in October
Microsoft has all but announced it will be launching its two Windows 10 Lumia smartphones next month.
News surrounding two Microsoft Lumia handsets running the new Windows 10 operating ecosystem has been out since August, and the Redmond, Washington-based tech giant finally revealed it will be holding a launch event on October 6 where it is expected to unveil the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.
The event, which the company announced could be viewed online or via Xbox consoles at 10:00am EDT, will focus on the "exciting news" it would be sharing about its new Windows 10 devices, among which include the first ever Windows phones to have the new OS installed.

The Microsoft Lumia 950, codenamed Talkman, and its bigger companion, 950 XL, codenamed Cityman, are expected to launch together with Microsoft's large-sized tablet, the Surface Pro 4, and its second gen wearable fitness device, the Band 2.
The Lumia 950 will carry a 5.2-inch 1440 x 2560 resolution full HD display fronted by Gorilla Glass 4. It will come with a Snapdragon 808 chipset supported by 3GB of RAM with 32GB internal storage but the memory can be expandable via microSD. It will have a 20MP Pure View rear camera featuring a LED flash and 4K video recording capability and it will also sport a 5MP front snapper and powered by a 3,000 mAh battery.
The Lumia 950 XL, on the other hand, will carry a 5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 resolution Quad HD display also topped by Gorilla Glass 4. It will be running on a Snapdragon 810 processor. It will likewise come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory expandable to 128GB via microSD. It will also have the same camera and video features as the Lumia 950. The 950 XL is expected to be juiced by a larger 3,300 mAh battery. Both will have removable batteries.
