Windows 8 Geared Google Chrome Browser Coming Soon
Google is reportedly working on a version of its Chrome internet browser that is specifically geared towards the upcoming touch friendly Windows 8 operating system.
"The browser will highlight touch support to compliment the company's interface principal that spans across many of its products and services, such as Xbox 360 and Windows Live," wrote 9to5 Google.
A representative of the company recently told Mashable that the new version of Google Chrome for Windows 8 will be based on the desktop browser itself and will differ significantly from the Android version.

"Our goal is to be able to offer our users a speedy, simple, secure Chrome experience across all platforms, which includes both desktop and Metro versions of Windows 8," said the Google rep to the site. "To that end we're in the process of building a Metro version of Chrome along with improving desktop Chrome in Windows 8 such as adding enhanced touch support."
Windows 8 is Microsoft's next generation operating system that features a new Metro-style user-interface with input for touchscreen, mouse, keyboard, and pen. The Consumer Preview version was released at the end of last month.
So far it is unclear whether or not Chrome for Windows 8 will include all the features of the current desktop impression. Its actual performance could end up being more limited when it is launched.
The company displayed the software only running one default browser, but it will still allow for other Metro-targeted browsers to run on the system.
Opera and Apple are currently the only companies who have not announced if they will release Metro rendering versions of their products.
Windows 8 is expected to launch sometime before the end of 2012. Microsoft hopes to infiltrate the tablet market with the new software.
