'World Of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth' Trailer Breakdown: What Does It Mean For The Two Great Factions?

There's no doubt that the "World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth" cinematic trailer is one of the best ones Blizzard ever put out. Whether it was Sylvanas yelling "For the Horde" or Anduin Wrynn rallying his troops, the teaser for the new expansion definitely gives a dose of the chills.

The first thing fans see is an aerial shot of Undercity, formerly the capital city of Lorderon in "Warcraft 3" and previous games in the series. It fell to Undead hands after Arthas murdered his father and still acts as the main city for the Undead race after their inclusion into the Horde.

The scene then shifts to the battlements where Sylvanas views the battle as her troops return fire to the enemy. After the death of Vol'Jin in Legion, she has taken on the role of war chief of the Horde.

Down below, Anduin Wrynn together with his adviser Genn Greymane, a worgen, and king of Gilneas, lead a force of men, dwarves, and draenei in the assault. Their ground force engage orcs, tauren, and trolls as Sylvanas and her Undead rain arrows from above. Fans also got to see both her and Anduin's powers as they revive their wounded and fallen comrades.

"World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth" once again features the two great factions at war despite getting closer together during the events of Legion. According to production director John Hight, this has always been the case as time and again, the factions band together to defeat a common enemy but along the way, things happened that left scars between the two sides.

The battle featured in the trailer coupled with Sylvanas' words cement this fact: that the Horde and the Alliance just can't seem to coexist without a common enemy. The conflict also appears to take a toll on Anduin who was opposed to conflict. Seeing him fight in the trailer was definitely a surprise although it was pretty much expected.

According to Hight, "World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth" is going to be different because the enemy is not some overpowered being like Sargeras or Deathwing, it's the guys at the other faction, their very first enemy. It's definitely a great call to classic "Warcraft" which was devoid of any machination from otherworldly beings, just two massive factions going it out against each other for their respective idea of what is right.
