Xiaomi Mi 5 release date, new specs leaked
Xiaomi's next flagship smartphone, the Mi 5, is due to be released soon, and recent leaks reveal a few of its most important specs.
A teaser announcement for Xiaomi Mi 5 surfaced recently, and the leaked image hinted that the smartphone may have a fingerprint scanner. The photo did not reveal any other important details, but it showed a fingerprint at the bottom part, according to Vine Report.
Another leak gave a sneak peek into what users can expect from Xiaomi Mi 5. Based on reports, the new flagship phone will feature a 5.3-inch screen with a quad-HD resolution and 2.5D Gorilla Glass protection. It would also run on a Snapdragon 810 processor, the report details.

The leaked image also showed the rear of the Xiaomi Mi 5, which interestingly has curved rear cover. This is reminiscent of the glass back seen in Samsung's Galaxy Note 5. Aside from that, the photo shows that the flagship device has a metal frame with two loudspeaker cutouts at the lower part, Phone Arena reports.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to sport a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 13-megapixel front camera. It will also run the Android Lollipop 5.1 operating system with Xiaomi's own MIUI running on top of it. The device will be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery and will come with a price tag of around $386.
Phablet lovers will also be delighted with the Mi 5 because it will have a 5.7-inch variant, the Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus. Although it will have the same screen resolution as the base unit, it will run on the latest Snapdragon 820 chip. In addition, it will boast of a 23-megapixel rear camera and 12-megapixel front camera. It will also be more powerful with a 3,500 mAh battery. The price will be higher than that of the Mi 5, the report relays.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is rumored to be unveiled by Sept. 24.
