Snyder confirmed the film's Imax trailer event for Monday with the 15-minute long clip, giving rise to speculations the full trailer may include additional footage of the "Man of Steel" sequel, as well as an introduction by Snyder himself.

The teaser builds the conflict between Superman and Batman, the latter using his role as a protector of the people to take down the Man of Steel and his enormous powers that have since earned him the public's distrust.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will see the return of Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman, with the movie following the events of the 2013 film.

Also returning are Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne as Clark Kent's editor, and Perry White.

"The Social Network" actor Jesse Eisenberg will be making his DC Universe debut as Superman's arch villain, Lex Luthor, while "Gone Girl's" Ben Affleck will be taking on the role of Batman.

The film will also be setting the stage for the introduction of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa as Aquaman, both of whom will have follow-up standalone films focusing on their characters. They will likewise be featured in two other "Justice League" movies which is slated to bring together all of DC Comics' iconic superheroes.

"Batman v Superman" was scripted by Chris Terrio and directed by Snyder based on the storyline created by both Snyder and David S. Goyer. The movie is scheduled for release in theaters on March 25, 2016.
