Digging into the Hard Questions about October 7 and the Israel–Hamas War
Bridges for Peace Int’l CEO Peter Fast visiting with residents and victims of Kibbutz Kfar Aza.
The war that erupted in the aftermath of Hamas’s October 7 attack in which the terror group murdered 1,200 people—mostly civilians—is approaching the one-year mark. As the conflict continues, an equally brutal battle rages simultaneously. The battle for public opinion takes place largely on social media, and it’s this battle that has thrust Christian support for Israel into the spotlight like never before.
With 8 in 10 Americans turning to their digital devices for news, social media being the news source of choice for 18–29 year olds, and Instagram, TikTok and Facebook morphing into pseudo-news platforms, according to a Pew Research Institute poll, social media has largely dictated international understanding of the conflict.
Yet truth, context and facts are often the first casualties of a war fought online. And with unverified claims, decontextualized footage, sensational imagery and AI-generated portrayals shared and re-shared in seconds, thus instantly turning into “truth” for millions, emotive narratives often trump reality.
It’s this dilemma that prompted Bridges for Peace, an organization of Christian volunteers based in Jerusalem, to answer the propaganda with fact. What emerged is Israel Unfiltered, a groundbreaking investigative interview series with Christian, Jewish and Arab historical, military, religious and political experts that offer a one-stop-shop insider’s view of Israel, the Palestinians, Hamas and the Middle East in the shadow of war.
Bridges for Peace has a legacy of more than half a century of walking alongside Israel through the nation’s darkest days. The October 7 attack and the ensuing war was no different. “We were here, in the bomb shelters with our Israeli friends and neighbors,” says International CEO Rev. Peter Fast. “Hours later, while the rockets were still flying, our team headed to the site where Hamas attacked to help. We saw. We experienced. We’re witnesses.”
Fast soon realized that the narrative warfare would prove a challenge for international Christians. “We were inundated with queries almost immediately. ‘I stand with Israel, but what about the civilian death toll in Gaza?’ ‘Why would Israel bomb a hospital, a school, a family home?’
Israel Unfiltered asks—and answers—the hard questions, Fast explains. World-renowned experts offer insight into the history of the most contested piece of land on earth, the critical context to the Middle East conflict, and the origins and evolution of the term Palestine. It examines Western mindset versus radicalism—and the confusion it causes. It explores Israel’s conflict strategy and Hamas’s use of human shields, and walks through the events of October 7 alongside those who experienced it.
“It’s said that Israel currently fights on the frontlines of Western civilization, in a war between Light and darkness,” Fast explains. “That’s a strong statement, I know. That’s why we invite Christians to listen to these experts, and then draw their own conclusion.”
