1973 'Papillon' Movie Remake to Star 'Mr. Robot's' Rami Malek and 'Pacific Rim's' Charlie Hunnam
Malek would be perfect as Dustin Hoffman's Dega from the original 'Papillon' movie
Rami Malek is not only busy doing Mr. Robot but he is also set to star with the lead in the remake of a Steve McQueen movie classic. The 1973 classic "Papillon," based on the true-to-life story of an ex-convict, will be hitting movie screens soon.
Malek is already confirmed to partner with Charlie Hunnam, who will be taking the role of the French convict Henri Charrière in Papillon, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Red Granite will be behind the production of the movie remake.
Papillon revolves around the story of Henri Charrière who was wrongly judged and convicted of murder. He meets Louis Dega, convicted of a counterfeiting charge, in prison and the two become friends, following the latter's offer to help Papillon escape.

Known actor Steve McQueen played Henri Charrière, while Dustin Hoffman was Dega in the original movie. The remake would have Rami Malek playing Dega with Charlie Hunnam (from "Pacific Rim") as Charrière for the upcoming movie remake.
Although the remake would be based on the original movie, a new script will be written by Aaron Guzikowski. He is best known for writing "Prisoners," a thriller directed by Denis Villeneuve.
Joey McFarland and Riza Aziz from Red Granite Pictures will be collaborating with Roger Corbi and Ram Bergman in producing the Papillon movie remake.
As far as the Papillon remake goes, the breakout star of Mr. Robot, Rami Malek, who plays computer hacker Elliott in the acclaimed series had been receiving positive feedback from a growing fan base over his familiarity with the role. Charlie Hunnam, on the other hand, is slated to do "Pacific Rim 2", however, further confirmation is still putting a hold on it. We'll let you all know once we do, too.
