$300K in Gold Dust Found in Heating Vent of Old Home in California

Over $300,000 in gold dust was found in an old home in California by workers installing a heating, ventilation and air condition unit.

The gold dust was secretly stored in the house without the owners knowing. But then workers from the HVAC company Clark & Rush found 12 baby food jars filled with gold dust. The workers were shocked by their discovery in the Sacramento home, but kept a clear mind and gave the gold to the owners instead of pocketing it.

"I still can't believe it today," said Steve Ottley to CBS about the discovery. "It's unreal. We kind of just looked at each other and said 'wow'."

He recalled, "I looked at it and said, 'I think that's gold.'"

Mark Thyne of Clark & Rush remarked that while he can't promise his company will find gold if they do an installment, "but I can say this, the integrity and professional of Clark & Rush, every time we find this type of thing, we are always trustworthy and upfront," according to CBS Sacrmaneto .

The homeowners asked not to be identified and have not spoken publicly about the discovery.

The HVAC installment costs $6,500, but the homeowner got $300,000 out of it. Not a bad deal.
