Acer Liquid X2 Release Date: New Smartphone to Feature Two 13MP Cameras

News about the Acer Liquid X2's release date emerged on Wednesday, and now fans are talking about the specs and features that they can expect from the new smartphone, including its rumored pair of 13-megapixel cameras.

Acer Liquid X2 is expected to be released in Asia initially in January 2016, based on information from Malaysian tech website SoyaCincau. The site first posted the release date of the new Acer smartphone after the company announced it, according to an iDigital Times report cited by Realty Today.

The upcoming Acer device was first announced in April, but rumors of its official release date quickly spread. The Acer Liquid X2 will sport midrange specs including 13-megapixel front and rear snappers, triple SIM Card slots, and a 5.5-inch HD display with a resolution of 720p. The phone will also be powered by a 4,000 mAh battery, which can make up for the device's lack of screen resolution, the report details.

The Liquid X2 comes after the Liquid X1, which was launched in September 2014. The upcoming smartphone runs on the 64-bit octa-core MediaTek processor chip. It also has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. It is worth noting that although all the three SIM cards mounted on the Liquid X2 can be used on LTE networks, they cannot be used simultaneously, Softpedia reports.

Buyers of the Acer Liquid X2 will get their hands on a unique flip cover upon purchase. The said cover allows the user to see messages and notifications without the need to open the device itself, the report relays.
When it comes to the overall design, Latin Post notes that the Liquid X2 resembles the Sony Xperia, but the triple-SIM feature poses as an advantage over the latter, the report adds.

As of now, pricing details for the Acer Liquid X2 are still unavailable. More information are expected to surface when the actual release date draws near.
