'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 3 News: Series Stars Talk About Their Respective Characters
ABC's hit superhero drama TV series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 3 is currently on hiatus and taking over its Tuesday timeslot is the Hayley Atwell-starred show, "Agent Carter." Despite its absence from the airwaves, the fans are still wondering what happens next for Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team after the events of the mid-season finale.
IGN.com recently had a run-in with some of the stars of the series during the ABC Television Critics Association event. Present during the interview were Elizabeth Henstridge and Ming-Na Wen who both teased to the publication about what's next for Jemma Simmons and Melinda May.
Henstridge, who plays the resident biochemist for the organization, revealed that her character will be found "grieving."
"She knows that Will has not made it back and that he's gone and that Fitz tried and all that stuff, so she's in a funky place of trying to get over that," the English actress told the media outlet.
The cast member went on to say that Simmons will be blaming herself for what happened to his colleague/romantic interest.
"She definitely feels responsible because he died trying to save her, and him dying meant she survived," Henstridge said.
Although her statement suggests that their respective characters might be out of action for quite a bit, fans should still be on the lookout for Simmons and Ian De Caestecker's alter-ego in the back half of the season as they continue to deal with their feelings for each other.
Wen, meanwhile teased that Agent May might have to put aside her personal feelings to effectively deal with the Andrew/Lash (Blair Underwood) crisis.
"There is definitely a transition in May trying to figure out how to not have her emotions, just to keep it in check the way she normally does," she told IGN while adding that there'd be something "huge" coming up for her character.
"She was willing and ready to think of a possible other life," Wen said.
The good news is that, Agent May won't be facing these emotional struggles alone as she still has Coulson's shoulder to lean on.
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 3 returns to ABC March 8 at 9 p.m.
