Amanda Bynes' DUI Charge Leads to Obama Request for Intervention

On Wednesday actress, singer, and designer Amanda Bynes was charged with a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence and the popular actress reached out to President Barack Obama in an appeal against the charge.

The actress, who starred in her own Nickelodeon series, took to her Twitter account to plead to the president for help.

"Hey @BarackObama… I don't drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don't hit and run. The end," the 26-year-old tweeted on Wednesday.

Bynes was arrested on April 6 at around 3 a.m. after an incident where she struck the rear corner of a Los Angeles county sheriff's vehicle. She is also facing charges for allegedly refusing to take a Breathalyzer or blood-alcohol test. Bynes has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Back in May the actress also took to the social networking site to set the record straight on her recent run-in with the law.

"I can't help but laugh at all of you writing fake stories about me. I was not in any hit and runs. I don't drink so the DUI is false," Bynes tweeted on May 27.

Bynes' father has also come out in support of his daughter against the drunk driving allegations.

"(The cop was) pulling out in front of (Amanda) as she was turning at the West Hollywood intersection where she was cited. I was told that she blew a zero on the Breathalyzer. She didn't have a single drink that night," Bynes' father told People magazine.

In 2007 the actress spoke up about why she would not become another child celebrity gone wild.

"I think I'll go out as much as I've ever gone out… which is not a lot. I like to dance and stuff, but drinking isn't good for you in every way," the actress told E! Online.
