Apple iPad Air 2 vs HTC Nexus 9 Comparison: Review of Specs - Which Tablet is Better?

Apple supposedly has set another benchmark in the tablet market with the release of the iPad Air 2. The Cupertino company's new tablet is regarded as better than the already amazing iPad Air. Still, consumers who are not loyal to the iOS platform are given the option to get Android-run tablets such as the HTC Nexus 9.

The battle between the iOS and the Android platforms have always been ongoing since the smartphone and tablet market emerged and a comparison between the iPad Air 2 and Nexus 9 seems apt as both sport the purest form of the software – though the iOS platform has always been exclusive to Apple devices.

First, the Nexus 9. The Google-run tablet is made by HTC this time and – while retaining the design parameters set by Google – the tablet has a few key features which is distinctly HTC such as the two front-facing speakers which can also be found with its One M8 flagship smartphone.

The Nexus 9 an 8.9-inch touchscreen with a display resolution of 2048 x 1536. It sports a 64-bit Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset with a dual-core 2.3GHz processor and a Kepler DX1 GPU. Two storage options are available, the 16GB and 32GB variants both with 2GB RAM. The tablet has not microSD card support though. Out of the box, the Nexus 9 is equipped with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The iPad Air 2 on the other hand has a bigger screen, at 9.7-inches but has the same display resolution as the Nexus 9. The new iPad Air has also gone 64-bit with its new Apple A8X chipset with a triple-core 1.5GHz processor. Three storage variants are available, the 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB variants all with 2GB of RAM and also like the Nexus 9, has no microSD card support.

Out of the box, the iPad Air 2 comes with the latest iOS 8.1 software.
