Apple iPhone 7 Rumors Include New Home Button, Fingerprint Scanner, LiFi Technology

Apple may have launched their iPhone SE already but the show isn't over yet as the company is still to launch the iPhone 7. There are no official details yet on the features and specs of the next generation device but several concepts and rumors have surfaced all over, predicting on what may come with the iPhone 7.

According to a report by Techno Buffalo, the new iPhone is conceptualized to be thinner with very slim side bezels. It will be thinner than its predecessor which is 6.9mm but will still look pretty much like the iPhone 6s. The 3.5mm headphone port is said to be removed so as to make its thin form possible. The camera hump will also be eradicated.

The source also reported that the biggest change that one will notice with the iPhone 7 is the re-imagined Home Button. It's speculated that Apple might replace the physical button with a digital display and haptic feedback. There will also be a new fingerprint scanner which will feature the capability of changing colors and even images. Users can opt to make use of the classic Apple logo or go with a circular photo.

The device is also said to come with a cutting-edge technology in the form of what is called as "LiFiCapability." As detailed in Mirror UK, the LiFi is a technology that makes use of light to transmit data through the air instead of through the radio waves. It can transmit at 100 times faster compared to the WiFi. The rumor started after developer Chase Fromm came upon a section of code for Apple's iOS 9.1 update, which already rolled out to iPhone users back in October 2015. But since the new technology is still in the early stages of development, the chances of iPhone 7 carrying the LiFi may still be unlikely.

Moreover, the iPhone 7 is also rumored to be equipped with a 4K display along with an internal memory storage of 16 GB which can be expanded further up to 256 GB. The handset is also said to carry a 2500mAh battery, a 20-megapixel primary camera and 12-megapixel front camera. None is confirmed yet so it's best to take reports with a pinch of salt.
