Apple Launches iPhone SE: Highlights, Rumors, and a Glimplse of New iPad Pro

Apple made a surprising move with the announcement of the latest version of the iPhone they call the iPhone SE, which sports a compact four-inch screen. This is a deviation from the latest trend in smartphone design, where practically every major brand is already making a lot of money designing screens of at least five inches. While the iPhone 5s and 5c had the same small screen size, the iPhone 6 line features a larger display.

Along with the launch of the SE, Apple also unveiled the new iPad Pro, an update to the popular Apple Watch, and a new version of the iOS.

When the company unveiled the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, everyone thought they eventually have acquiesced to the trend of offering bigger smart phones. The former had a 4.7-inch screen while the latter sported a 5.5-inch screen size. However, the iPhone SE is a sign that the California-based multinational technology company is going back to its old ways. According to the Daily Mail, the price for this smaller phone will start at $399 in the United States and £359 in the UK. The color options include rose gold metallic, gold, silver, and space grey.

It has nearly identical features and specifications as the bigger model, with an A9X processor and RAM upgrades from the 12.9-inch model.

Another product introduced at the event is the new iPad Pro that comes equipped with a smaller screen size of 9.7 inches compared to the old version. The expected price tag for this new device is $599 for the base storage of 32GB. It is interesting to learn that the 16GB variety has been discontinued, but similar to previous installments, the basic model will only have WiFi for connectivity. The features meanwhile are pretty similar, particularly the A9X processor and RAM.
