'Assassin's Creed Origins' Microtransaction Details
"Assassin's Creed Origins" is joining the microtransaction train just as it has been in the last two big installments of the series. While Ubisoft has stated that most of what players can spend their money on is obtainable in-game, it's a bit more complicated than that.
In the in-game store, players can choose from a variety of purchasable content which are sold for the game's currency called "Helix Credits." There are a number of "free" ways to get this currency but other than that, have to spend real money to get them.
First off, players who buy the game's $40 season pass can help themselves to 500 Helix Credits. Another 200 Helix Credits await them finishing the game's prologue and that's pretty much it.

Once they've spent all their free credits, players can buy them for real money with five "packages" to choose from: 500 for $4.99, 1050 for $9.99, 2400 for $19.99, 4600 for $34.99, and 7400 for $49.99.
One good thing about the "Assassin's Creed Origins" microtransaction system is that they are pretty much harmless with no luck-based items such as lootboxes. Most of the items sold in the in-game store are also either cosmetic in nature or so-called "Time Saver" items such as crafting materials, or items that give information of some kind like hidden locations.
This means that players who aren't into spending real money for virtual items won't be missing much in terms of gameplay. Even legendary items, each of which costs $2.50, aren't wildly different from weapons players might randomly stumble across in terms of perks and abilities.
Microtransactions in the game are mostly geared towards convenience rather than actually giving players an edge. Players who are missing crafting ingredients or are tired of wandering aimlessly hoping to find hidden passages can simply hop into the in-game store and get what they need.
But for players who want to look flashy in-game though, nothing really beats riding around Egypt on a unicorn. Sure they can probably scrounge up a mish-mash of cosmetics and look half as nice, or they can shell out $5 to get their very own one-horned horse.
"Assassin's Creed Origins" is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
