'Attack on Titan' Season 2 Release Date and Rumors: Season to Reveal Eren's Titan-Controlling Capabilities and Mystery of the Throne

The first season of the anime adaptation of "Attack on Titan" has been a huge success and fans should be excited since season 2 has recently been confirmed.

Previous spoilers suggest that lead character Eren will lead his people in an uprising against a government that has long oppressed his people. There are not so many details revealed about season 2 just yet, but multiple reports state that his ability to control Titans and become one of them will be revealed in the upcoming installment. Season 1 showed that he is capable of transforming into a Titan, but in season 2, a more advanced capability will be revealed as he will be able to control other Titans like him.

According to Yibada, director of the hit Japanese anime series Tetsuro Araki revealed to the media in a recent interview that the sophomore season will feature largely on the transformation of humans into gods, specifically Titans.

Politics will also be one of the main factors that will affect Eren's cause, and as said earlier, he will be faced with trials that will challenge his strengths and weaknesses. The outlet suggests that Eren will eventually take over the monarchy, but just like other shows, he will once again be in for another round of battles and emotional struggles when he becomes the new leader.

Known in Japan as "Shingeki no Kyojin," the hit manga is said to go after the "manga policy," meaning there are four arcs all in all. Since creator Hajime Isayama said earlier in September via Comic Book Resources that the manga is about "60 percent finished," several outlets suggest that once all chapters are wrapped up, season 2 will follow right away.

Other rumors indicate that there is a mysterious twist within the throne that Eren will take on. Whether it be good or bad has yet to be revealed, but news of the twist has only added further to the excitement of fans waiting for the next season.

Meanwhile, there is no specific release date announced just yet, but Araki reportedly said that season 2 will start airing by the second half of 2016.
