'Bachelorette' Star Quits Job as ADA, Hopes to Return by End of the Year

"Bachelorette" star Andi Dorfman quit her day job as an assistant district attorney before going on the reality dating series. She has no plans on returning once the season is over, but Dorfman is looking forward to the future.

"I put the bad guys away," Dorfman said during the season premiere of her show. "I love fighting crime. It's empowering."

The latest "Bachelorette" graduated from the Wake Forest Law School and joined the Fulton County office as an ADA and the gang unit in November 2012. She was granted unpaid leave by her boss, District Attorney Paul Howard and expected to return on May 31. However, she made the decision not to do so and is instead pursuing other options despite writing in her resignation letter that she wants Howard to "strongly consider" rehiring her after the year ends.

"My true passion is in the prosecution of criminal cases," Dorfman wrote.

The DA's office told TMZ that they would be open to bringing Dorfman back should that be what she truly wants. It seems, though, that Dorfman is open to pursuing new things and opportunities with her fame.

Dorfman decided to appear on the show and try to find love. She and the remaining men are in Italy, and as the competition for her heart gets more intense, expect plenty more drama. Dorfman's season was already unique because of contestant Eric Hill's death soon after filming wrapped. It's been an unspoken theme of the season, and many of the contestants have spoken publicly of the loss they feel without Hill.

Dorfman and Hill ended up exchanging words before he left the series, and she has said that she regrets the way they left things and wishes they would have gotten to have one final conversation.

"Falling in love should be fun," Dorfman said during the season opener. "I don't know what I did to deserve 25 men to want to fly across the country to meet me."

"The Bachelorette" airs Monday nights on ABC.
