'Bates Motel' Season 4 News, Update: A&E Drops Peephole-themed Teaser Trailer
A&E network recently released the first teaser trailer for the fourth season of its hit drama-thriller TV series "Bates Motel" and the Internet went wild over the creepy details dished out in the video.
Cited over at IGN's official YouTube Channel, the clip was rather short but its 20-second duration could more or less prove that the show is indeed heading towards the iconic events of its parent movie, "Psycho," by Alfred Hitchcock.
The highlight reel debuted on Sunday, Jan. 17 during the Critics' Choice Awards and it featured the infamous peephole-pecked walls of the titular motel. Going further down the hole, an image of a loaded gun was shown, a terrified Norma (Vera Farmiga) falling down while Norman's (Freddie Highmore) distraught voice can be heard screaming, "Mother! Mother!" as he reaches out.
The scene then morphed to show a string of pearls, where each piece goes down the drain. As the clip comes to a close, the camera zooms out to reveal blood pouring down a rather spotless white drain. Fans may know that this particular part pays homage to a shower scene in Hitchcock's iconic 1960 film.
A tagline that reads "We all go a little mad sometimes" was then seen.
Last year, a casting report from TVLine revealed a new guest in the establishment. Citing their sister website, it was learned that "Veronica Mars," "Drop Dead Diva", and "Grimm" star Jaime Ray Newman has signed up to play the role of Rebecca Hamilton.
The new character is said to be an old flame of Sheriff Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell) whom she still has a fancy for.
The website also previously revealed what executive producer Kerry Ehrin said about the new season. According to the EP, Season 4 will basically pick up the events left in Season 3 which happens to have "a lot of cliffhangers."
"Bates Motel" Season 4 is slated to premiere by March 7 at 9/8c.
