'Bates Motel' Season 4 News, Update: New Trailer Offers Glimpse of Norman Inside Pineview Mental Institution
The hype keeps getting more and more intense as fans of the hit psychological thriller drama TV series "Bates Motel" get ready for the show's return. Just this week, A&E network dropped yet another trailer that teases the eventful fate of Freddie Highmore's Norman Bates as he battles against his impending mental decline.
The clip, which can be seen below, is rather short but its 45-second length is more than enough to make the viewers feel chill running through their spines. It opens up with a black-and-white scene where Norman and Norma (Vera Farmiga) can be seen cruising the highway. The mother and son's destination is yet to be known, but there's a possibility that their trip is heading toward a mental health facility where they could get some professional help.
"Norman, we've been through a lot and it's all going to be good," Norma tells her son who is sitting along with him in the front seat. "You'll see."
Scenes in the video quickly transform into something terrifying as it shows the matriarch being followed by Norman who is wielding a sharp knife. Scenes once again shift, showing a victim being pulled down in a dark room.
"Norman, you're scaring me!" a voice can be heard.
"You should be scared." Norman says.
The roller coaster of emotions takes another dive when it shows a rather creepy scene involving the mother and her troubled youngest son embracing like lovers. They go on to kiss passionately. Norman can also be seen wearing Norma's clothes while looking into a mirror where he could see an image of his mother.
The teaser concludes with a gripping long shot of Norman being strapped on what seems to be a hospital gurney. Could this place be the Pineview Mental Institution? Did Norma finally realize that there's nothing she can do now to reverse the degenerating mental constitution of her son?
Find out how these events unfold when "Bates Motel" season 4 returns March 7 with the primer titled "A Danger to Himself and Others."
