'Bates Motel' Season 4 Update & Spoilers: New Key Art Shows Sinister Norman
American drama-thriller "Bates Motel" is set to return to A&E soon for its fourth season. But before the season can premiere its first episode, Den of Geek reported that the show released new key art featuring lead character Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) with a very unusual and sinister look, an indication that the young man has become fully mentally-disturbed.
Aside from that, it's noted in the promotional poster that Norman is wearing his mother's favorite accessory—a pearl necklace. It seems like the end of Norma Bates' (Vera Farmiga) life is drawing near and it's hinting that the events from the 1960 film "Psycho," which the series serves as a prequel of, will finally take place.
According to Vine Report, season 3 of "Bates Motel" showed how Norman's mental stability has gone askew. The final episode also closed with Norman pretending to be Norma and killing one of his friends, Bradley. Based on the teasers released, it's expected that the upcoming season will continue to tell the story of Norman's new personality.

Coming Soon also detailed that Norma will be very fearful of Norman's mental health and will be desperate to find someone who can help her fix Norman. But it will complicate things as it may break the trust they have for each other. Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) will also be returning to the lives of the Bates and will do everything he can to protect the one he loves.
A teaser trailer has already been released and though it didn't reveal much of the plot for season 4, it featured a revolver gun and Norma in trouble while her pearl necklace falls apart. Blood then starts flowing down the bathtub drain hinting that another death is to come.
"Bates Motel" season 4 will premiere on March 7 at 9 p.m. ET on A&E.
