'Battlefield 5' News: World War I Theme, Platforms, and Release Date

Talk has it that EA's newest game "Battlefield 5" will be released within the period October 2016 to March 2017. First-person shooters will be glad to know that a specific date within the time period has surfaced, albeit through unofficial and unconfirmed avenues. Other details such as the game's theme and the platforms on which it may be played have also been revealed. Without any word from the game publisher until now, fans of FPS are relying on more creative means of gathering the information they have been hoping for.

The most recent and reliable source---which is still unconfirmed by official channels---that unearthed the present information now going around is Liam Robertson, a popular gaming researcher. He shared in his post on Twitter a possible leak from a Swiss retail listing referring to "Battlefield 5" which coincides with most of the rumors going around on the possible theme of the much-awaited FPS, as well as other relished details.

Robertson wrote, "Listing for Battlefield 5---shows platforms as Xbox One, PS4 & PC. Coming '26.10.2016'" after which he added the links to the site where he uncovered the listing and that of his Twitter post featuring the listing's screen capture.

More importantly, a short description also accompanied the listing, "Mehrspieler Taktik Shooter im 1. Weltkrieg," roughly translated, "Multiplayer tactical shooter in WW1."

Others believe the date to be Nov. 23, 2016, which, as reports claim, IMDB exposed.

A lot of varied and sometimes conflicting information has come out with regard to the "Battlefield five" FPS. But if Robertson's reputation is well-deserved, fans may have stumbled upon a gold mine of "Battlefield five" news. For some time, talk of a world war theme has circulated but has never been a sure thing. This discovery though may have some ring of truth to it.

Many have speculated the theme to be World-War-I-inspired; one has taken the signs to indicate a WWII influence. Nevertheless, eager gamers have been given a bone to gnaw on, a solid sign that the upcoming release may indeed have returned to its roots with a WWI-related theme.

Of course, there is little meat to go with the particular information, so that it is bound to make "Battlefield five" gamers more hungry in due time. Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and personal computer gaming freaks may sharpen their fangs though while waiting to finally try out the newest game from EA.

Still, there is much expectation from the upcoming 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo some time in June, anytime from the 12th to 14th. The company keynote delivery is the 12th, and those who want to hear it from the horse's mouth would undoubtedly be hanging on till then to have official and confirmed details for "Battlefield five."

It is also possible, as scores of fans are speculating, that the game may finally be unveiled at the EA Play showcase.
