Blizzard's Biggest Announcements At BlizzCon 2017
Blizzard Entertainment made some of the biggest game announcements during BlizzCon 2017. From new expansions, system overhauls, to free games, it's definitely a good year to be a Blizzard fan.
First off, there's the announcement of yet another "World of Warcraft" expansion: "Battle for Azeroth." Following the events of Legion, the Horde and the Alliance are once again at each other's throats. Under their new leaders, it appears that Azeroth will once again become the battlefield for the two massive factions that consider it home.
In addition to the new expansion, Blizzard also announced the coming addition of Classic servers to "World of Warcraft." While details of how the server will work are quite a few, there's no doubt that the nostalgia hype train is rapidly gaining steam.
Next up is the announcement that after more than seven years, "Starcraft 2" will finally be a free-to-play title. This means that new and returning players can jump to the "Wings of Liberty" campaign as well as multiplayer ladder without spending a dime. However, for those who want to extend their experience to both the "Heart of the Swarm" and "Legacy of the Void" expansions, these still need to shell out a few bucks. That being said, the base game itself is nothing to scoff at and is expected to bring a wave of new players to the community.
"Hearthstone" also took to the stage at BlizzCon 2017 announcing the arrival of the digital card game's first truly replayable single-player mode, "Dungeon Run." Players will have to defeat a randomized set of eight bosses each of which provides a player with a treasure to make their deck stronger. Losing, however, means they have to start from the beginning and once again run the gauntlet of bosses.
Finally, there's the announcement of a new "Overwatch" hero by the name of Moria. As a hybrid support and damage dealer, Moria has the ability to teleport around the map and send out a bouncing ball that will either heal or hurt as she chooses. Her ultimate takes the form of a laser than pretty much has the same effect of either healing allies or shredding enemies to bits. She's one of the bad guys too although that might not mean much to players considering she's a healing, a class the game just can't seem to get enough of.
