Boston Celtics New Sleeved Jerseys Revealed, Players and Fans Don't Like it Too Much

The Boston Celtics have just recently revealed the new look of their sleeved jerseys, with fans and players alike sharing the same sentiments: the jerseys aren't very attractive. The traditional sleeveless jerseys have been prevailing over the sleeved ones but slowly, teams have been giving them a try.

The sleeved jerseys have been once a one-off marketing ploy but now it seems that it has evolved into a fully-fledged one, with various teams already sporting sleeved jerseys. While many players seem not to like the shift, the trend is here to stay and will continue to spread to other teams.

The Celtic's unveiling of their new sleeved jerseys is branded as "Parquet Pride" Thursday earlier this week alongside an introductory video.

The jerseys are made by Addidas and use a gray base color, with the Celtic's green color as highlights. The most prominent of these green colored design is the green straps around the shoulders. The shorts also sport a green clover logo at the bottom left part of the short leg.

Apparently, the green bands around the shoulders received the most criticisms, with some saying that the players sporting the sleeved jerseys look like they are wearing backpacks. Arguments have been made that the green straps are supposed to create the illusion of having no sleeves.

However, it seems that the real problems is that the jersey doesn't quite represent the Celtics in a Celtics-like way. The team has always been one to cherish their heritage down to the jerseys they wear and the Gray sleeved ones with the green bands around the shoulders doesn't feel like a Celtics jersey.

The team will need to address the aesthetic problems soon as they will be wearing the jerseys on six important dates in the franchise's history. Nov. 28 – the 25th anniversary of Larry Bird's 25,000th career point. Others include the 30th anniversary of Red Auerbach's no. 2 jersey retirement ceremony, the 55th anniversary of Bill Russell's 51-rebound game, and the 50th anniversary of the famous "Havlicek stole the ball!" highlight.
