Boxing News 2016: Julio Cesar Chavez Calls Out Gennady Golovkin On Twitter, 'GGG' Camp Responds
World middleweight champion and undefeated knockout artist Gennady Golovkin is one of the hottest names in the sport today, and rightfully, everyone wants a piece of him.
Apart from being linked to the name of fellow undefeated and retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., a new challenger has come forth in the form of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
In a tweet he posted last April 26th, the son of Mexican legend and six-division world champion Julio Cesar Chavez challenged Golovkin in a fight in September.

"Ey GGG You are great as a person and fighter. do not wait for cowards amigo September #MexicanStyle #mexicanday," Chavez Jr.'s tweet reads.
As the WBC interim middleweight champion, Golovkin is the current mandatory challenger to the world champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, who defends his title against Amir Khan on May 7th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Should Alvarez emerge victorious, he is required to face Golovkin, and failing to do so may result in him being stripped of his title.
Yet, despite the challenge that is presented ahead of them, the Golovkin camp is looking at other options. In line with Chavez Jr.'s tweet, his management team is actually considering a fight with the controversial boxer, should the deal with Alvarez fail to come to fruition.
"Look, if we can't make a fight with Canelo, if we can't make a fight with Saunders, I think Chavez would be an interesting match-up," said Golovkin's promoter Tom Loeffler in response to Chavez's tweet. "Because Chavez being as big as he is, and Gennady coming of 22 straight knockouts, I think it would be an interesting fight for the fans."
"They have very big fan-bases where the match-up makes it a big event," he added.
One of the obstacles in the making of the Alvarez-Golovkin match is the weight class they will be fighting at. Alvarez refuses to go up to 160-pounds, while Golovkin will not budge and move down to 154-pounds.
