'Broforce' Wins Vote to Play, Available for Free Next Month

Side-scrolling run and gun platform video game "Broforce" is going to be free to play on PlayStation 4 next month. According to a report by Irish Examiner, the game will be accessible for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers as part of the Instant Game Collection.

The game is also one of March 2016's free games as it has recently won the Sony-conducted Vote to Play poll among PlayStation Plus subscribers. After closing the Vote to Play poll, results show that it garnered 47 percent of the votes, indicating that the title is a favorite among many video gamers. PlayStation Lifestyle also reported that the game stayed at first place almost the entire vote. "Action Henk" placed second, while "Assault: Android Cactus" placed third.

Fans of the game can access "Broforce" in PlayStation 4 beginning Friday, March 4, in North America and Europe. But those who are more interested in "Assault: Android Cactus" and "Action Henk" can get the game with a discounted price. Sony announced that both the runner-ups will be available with 30 percent PlayStation Plus discount once they are released. The promo will run from March 8 to March 21.

As detailed in Techno Buffalo, other titles that will be part of the free games for the month of March include "Galak-Z," "Super Stardust HD," "Flame Over," "Reality Fighters," and "The Last Guy."

For those who are not aware yet of the background of March's Vote to Play Winner, Digital Trends notes that the game was originally released via Steam Early Access. The game, which is developed by Free Live Games and published by Devolver, is a 2D run-and-gun shooter that is somewhat the same with classic titles like "Metal Slug" and "Contra."

On the official website of the game, the description says, "When evil threatens the world, the world calls on Broforce - an under-funded, over-powered paramilitary organization dealing exclusively in excessive force."
