Bruce Jenner Woman Rumors, News: Reality Star's Mom Says She's Proud

Bruce Jenner's mother, Esther Jenner, recently spoke to the Associated Press on Wednesday, Feb. 4, about her son's talked about gender transition and said that she was "more proud of him now" than when he won the gold decathlon medal in the 1976 Olympics.

Esther said that she spoke with her son about his transition.

"It was brief and I said I was proud of him and that I'll always love him. I never thought I could be more proud of Bruce when he reached his goal in 1976, but I'm more proud of him now. It takes a lot of courage to do what he's doing," the 88-year-old said.

Bruce reportedly wanted to be honest with her about what's being said in the media.

"He started by saying, 'We need to have a long, serious talk," said Esther. "He said, 'I want to be honest about my identity and I know this is coming out in the press.'"

Esther also said that despite her son's changing appearance, Bruce remains the same person. Lately, Bruce has been seen sporting longer hair, manicured nails, and fuller lips.

"He said, 'Mom, I'm still the same person,'" Esther told the Associated Press. "He said, 'I'm still going to race cars, I'm still going to fly airplanes and I'm going to get my helicopter license."

As for their very first conversation when she learned about her son's plans, Esther said that she didn't see it coming.

"When I first learned about it, yes, of course it was a surprise," she said. "It was a shock. It's hard to wrap your mind around it."

As previously reported by Us Weekly, the former Olympian will be sitting down with Diane Sawyer to discuss his transition from male to female. E! News reports that Bruce will be having his own reality show chronicling his transformation which will air on E!
