Candy Spelling to Daughter Tori: Stop Blaming Your Parents
Candy Spelling penned a new memoir addressing her notoriously strained relationship with daughter Tori Spelling that hits book shelves this week.
"Candy at Last" details the best-selling author's 38-year marriage to producer Aaron Spelling, raising two children in Hollywood, and co-managing one of the largest estates in the country (Spelling Manor eventually sold for $85 million), and finally managing life on her own. Furthermore, Spelling shares intimate details about her family in the new memoir, including admissions about the challenges of motherhood.
"I am by no means saying that I am the perfect mother now or I didn't make mistakes when my children were growing up," Spelling wrote, according to E! News. "In therapy I learned that I was passive-aggressive and that I also had poor communication skills. Having said that, I also believe that there comes a time when you have to stop blaming your parents. I have learned from my own journey that at some point you have to take responsibility for your own actions and attitudes."

Moreover, Spelling recalled long intervals of estrangement from her daughter, "90210" star Tori, and even revealed that the first time she met Tori's husband Dean McDermott was at the funeral of her late husband Aaron Spelling. However, the "Candy at Last" writer expressed optimism about her mother-daughter relationship with Tori.
"Tori and I are a work in progress and probably always will be," Spelling penned.
Spelling's candid memoir and her clear message to her daughter arise just as Tori is enduring a cheating scandal with her husband of seven years. Late last year, McDermott cheated on his wife before entering rehab, leaving Spelling "devastated," according to Us Weekly. Today, the couple, who shares four children together, is struggling to save their marriage- as documented on the television series "True Tori."
Earlier this week, Candy admitted to watching her daughter's reality television series which chronicles the scandal and aftermath with McDermott.
"As a mom, you don't wanna see your children hurt in any way, and I have to say that it's painful for me to watch it," she admitted to E! News.
