'Captain America: Civil War' News: New International Posters Revealed as Black Panther's Role is Explained
In about three weeks, fans will finally get a glance at the biggest battle in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and to add on to the hype, Marvel Studios has released new international posters.
According to Comic Book Movie, Chinese and Russian posters have been unveiled, showing Captain America's (Chris Evans) and Iron Man/Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) team looking intense.
The Chinese photos feature solo shots of the Cap, Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman).

The Russian posters, on the other hand, seem to hint which character will be facing off against each other as Hawkeye and Black Panther stare at each other's eyes deeply, and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and The Vision (Paul Bettany) also have their face-off banner.
In one of the banners, Black Widow stares calmly into Bucky's apparently angry eyes, while another shows the Captain and former friend Stark getting down to their business and seemingly impatient to start battling it out.
Meanwhile, screenwriter Christopher Markus recently explained about the expanded role that Black Panther will be playing in the film. While many comic book geeks know the character very well, a lot of moviegoers are not aware of why he was added to the film.
It turns out that Black Panther, also known as Prince T'Challa of Wakanda, was just supposed to represent his country in the film but with Tom Holland's Spider-Man officially entering the picture, production then decided to keep Black Panther in the story.
"Originally, T'Challa and T'Chaka (Black Panther's father) were just the representatives of Wakanda, sort of the voice of other countries in the world going...then he became so integral to the story as it evolved that once Spider-Man came back, we didn't take him out," Markus told Cinema Blend.
At one point in the movie's making, it seemed that Sony wouldn't allow Spider-Man to re-enter the MCU but according to Screen Rant, the development team had to find a replacement, which is Black Panther.
As Markus explained, the character has become vital enough in the story that they had to keep him there. Another reason that could have led production to keep Black Panther is the need to introduce him to the audiences before he gets a solo film in the near future.
"Captain America: Civil War" hits big screens on May 6, 2016.
