'Captain America: Civil War' News: Spider-Man's Role, Involvement Further Confirmed
It was big news when Sony confirmed that it would be working with Marvel to merge its popular superhero franchise, "Spider-Man," into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The deal was for the web-slinger to first appear on one of the MCU offerings before the character debuts once again on its stand-alone film in 2017.
The public assumed that Peter Parker, who will now be played by Tom Holland, will first come out in "Captain America: Civil War." The latter film is slated to feature the acts of Chris Evans as the titular hero. Opposite to him is Robert Downey, Jr. who will once again be donning his Iron-Man character suit.
When Civil War's first teaser trailer came out last month, fans were beginning to question their theory that the wall-crawler will be on the film. Apparently, the character wasn't seen on any of the trailer's frames. What led to more doubting is the fact that Marvel and Sony still haven't officially confirmed Spider-Man's involvement.

However, it appears that the superhero might really be in the movie.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Robert Downey Jr., the actor who plays the billionaire-playboy, gave an offhanded remark hinting about Holland's character.
"[Don] Cheadle and I are just going, 'Wow, dude, look at this. We're now like the old guard, and our storyline carries real weight just because of our history in the [canon].' But we're also looking around like, 'Who thought that Falcon and Black Panther and Ant-Man and now Spider-Man…?' I mean it's like wow, this thing is just crazy," the 50-year-old was quoted as saying.
The EW report goes on to reveal that during a large battle scene which many characters in the film were part of, a stuntman was spotted donning a familiar red-and-blue costume that covers his whole body.
The publication went on to ask other cast members, including Evans himself, to further confirm the casting speculation. However, the 34-year-old chose to remain mum on the details. On his part, Sebastian Stan, who plays as the Winter Soldier, said he didn't know who Holland is.
While this issue is yet to be clarified, the new Jon Watts-helmed "Spider-Man" movie is slated to hit the theaters by July 28, 2017.
