'Captain America: Civil War' News, Spoilers: Anthony Mackie Clarifies 'Hulk' Comment; Directors Tease 'Very Dramatic Ending'
Anthony Mackie, who plays the role of Sam Wilson/Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, including the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War," has clarified a statement he made in a recent interview.
While guesting in Radio 1's "Movies With Ali Plumb," Mackie called the forthcoming superhero film Marvel's best and went on to praise the work of the MCU actors in the film. He then began dropping the names of the actors whose work he was able to witness during filming. Curiously, after listing Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), he mentioned Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), a casting that has not been included on any "Civil War" cast list.
In his visit to "Late Night With Seth Meyers" on Monday, the actor set things straight. According to the "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" actor, he wasn't merely rolling off a list of the actors that are in "Civil War;" rather, he was trying to pay respect to his fellow MCU actors.

"I was giving respect to my fellow actors," Mackie told Meyers. "I said Marvel movies are so great because they have great actors. The likes of Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., love that guy. People take that to mean that I'm saying this is what the movie is about, and this is in the movie."
"The first rule of Marvel is don't talk about Marvel," he teased.
Meanwhile, in Empire magazine's latest issue, "Civil War" directors Joe and Anthony Russo emphasized just how big and impactful their upcoming film is. According to the Russos, the fallout from "Civil War" will be much bigger than that from its predecessor, the second Captain America stand-alone film "The Winter Soldier," which they also helmed.
"In 'Civil War,' we're going to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Psychology, and it's an extreme shift," Joe said. Apart from that, Anthony said that fans can expect a "very dramatic ending that will be controversial for a lot of people."
"Captain America: Civil War" hits theaters on May 6.
