'Captain America: Civil War' News, Spoilers: Anthony Mackie Says Film Is Marvel's Best

With less than three months to go before the much-awaited superhero clash film "Captain America: Civil War" lands in movie theaters, its directors and cast are going full-throttle on the pre-launch hype.

Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson/Falcon in the film, claims that "Civil War" is Marvel Studios' best film yet. The actor told IGN, "It'll be very different because… I feel the best Marvel movies thus far have been 'Winter Soldier' and 'Iron Man.' And I think this movie far surpasses those two movies."

"I think the Russo brothers and Marvel have done a very good job with upping the ante every movie. And this one definitely does not fail to live up to that," he added.

The statement that Marvel upped the ante with "Civil War" is no joke, as the studio seems to have packed the film with every Marvel superhero willing to appear in it. They even managed to wrangle Robert Downey, Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man) into reprising his role for a sixth time and taking on a lead role opposite Chris Evans (Steve Rogers/Captain America).

But while the upcoming film does seem stuffed to the gills with Marvel heroes, Evans has reassured Captain America fans that the third Captain America film is, indeed, about Cap, and not the Avengers.

"Even though there are a lot characters, the focus is on Steve and his struggle," the actor said in the latest issue of Disney twenty-three, the magazine released by official Disney fan club D23.

Meanwhile, "Civil War" director Joe Russo, who helmed the film with his brother Anthony, explained the differences between the story in "Civil War" and that in the second Captain America stand-alone film, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (2014), which he and Anthony also directed.

According to Joe, while "Winter Soldier" relied on its "twisting plot," the twists and turns in "Civil War" are "character-based."

"Captain America: Civil War" hits movie theaters on May 6.
