Carrie Underwood Takes Home Gold at American Country Awards

Christian singer, Carrie Underwood is no stranger to the lime light. The American Country Awards, which aired Monday night, shone light on Underwood’s musical talents and proved that she is as successful as ever.

Underwood started her career after winning American Idol in 2005. Since then her album sales have sold in the millions. In one year alone, up until May 2011, Forbes magazine reported her annual gross as $22 million.

She was seen gallantly leaving the American Country Awards Monday night holding three golden awards.

The Christian musician was the top winner of the ACA last year taking home six Fender Telecaster awards. This year, Underwood was named Female Artist of the Year. She also won Music Video of the Year as well as Single of the Year for her hit song, “Mama’s Song.”

Other winners included Scotty McCreery the new American Idol winner. He took home the award for New Artist of the Year. Brad Paisley, although not present won Male Artist of the Year.

Breakthrough Artist went to Chris Young. His single “Voices,” also led him to win Single of the Year. Blake Shelton dedicated his win to his father who he claims has been having a difficult time. He left with video of the Year for “Who Are You When I’m not Looking.”

The major winner of the night was Jason Aldean, taking home six awards. Among the six was the award for Artist of the Year. He also took home Album of the Year and Single of the Year by a Male Artist for his hit single, “My Kinda Party.”
