Champion Miesha Tate Eyeing For Third Rousey Fight In New York After Facing Amanda Nunes At UFC 200

Reigning UFC women's bantamweight champion Miesha Tate already made her plans after UFC 200.

"Cupcake" is slated to face Amanda Nunes for her first title defense on July 9th at the newly built T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Ranked number four in the UFC's women's bantamweight division, Nunes was on a three-fight winning streak (two victories ended by stoppage) before getting the call to fight Tate, making her a formidable opponent for anyone in the division.

Yet, Tate is seemingly looking to far ahead towards the future after the said fight, as she intends to face old rival Ronda Rousey upon the latter's expected return later in the year.

During the UFC 200 pre-fight press conference in New York City on Wednesday, UFC Tate is eyeing for her third fight against "Rowdy" for the UFC's event in the said city, specifically at the Madison Square Garden, a venue that is deemed as the world's "fight mecca."

"I think everything happens for a reason. I told everybody I was going to beat Holly and I did, and I'm going to beat Amanda on the 9th, and I'm going to go on, and hopefully I'm going to see Ronda in Madison Square Garden," Tate said. "That's going to be great."

Tate won the title against Holly Holm last March 5th at UFC 196, finishing the fight via rear-naked choke late in the fifth round.

As far as the women's bantamweight title picture goes, another fight between returning fighters Cat Zingano and Julianna Pena will also be part of UFC 200. While one of them will likely be in line for a shot at the title, Tate says she is still hoping that Rousey would be back in time for UFC 205, the company's maiden New York event, slated for November 12th.

"I think either one of them makes a great contender, they're both right in that top ranking, we'll see who wins. But either way, I'm hoping Ronda's going to make a comeback before that."

Tate and Rousey already faced each other twice in the past, in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Rousey won both fights via armbar submission.
