Charlize Theron Debuts Engagement Ring? Actress to Wed Sean Penn 'Very Soon' (PHOTOS)

Charlize Theron sparked engagement rumors in Los Angeles on Thursday when she stepped out wearing a diamond ring.

The "A Million Ways to Die" star, 38, was photographed making her way to South Africa to meet her boyfriend Sean Penn, 53, yesterday and onlookers could not help but notice the ring on her wedding finger.

Theron flashed an 18-carat yellow gold Anita Ko Leaf ring as she made her way through LAX airport. She wore double denim jeans and a shirt paired with ankle boots and attempted to cover her face with a jacket.

"They want to get married very soon," a source told Us magazine of the couple.

The single mom appeared to be in good spirits upon meeting Penn in Cape Town and at one point the pair was spotted holding hands.

Insiders claim that in addition to wedding planning, the couple intends to adopt a child together. Theron
is already mom to 2-year-old Jackson and Penn, who shares two children with ex-wife actress Robin Wright, is said to be a "strong role model" to him.

"Sean and I have known each other for 18 years. We were just really good friends. And it's been slow going because you are aware that you could screw that up and lose it," Theron told the June issue of Vogue.

"We had to think about it. But at the end of the day, it was somewhat effortless," she continued. "The people who really love me can see the effect it has had on me."

The couple is expected to begin filming a new project "The Last Face" while in South Africa. Theron will star in it while Penn produces it.

"Sean is revitalized with Charlize," the source said.

Prior to Penn, the South African actress dated Irish actor Stuart Townsend for close to a decade after having met him on the set of "Trapped." Penn was once married to Wright and pop star Madonna.
