Could 'X-Men: Dark Phoenix' Open the Door to MCU Cross Over?
With Disney acquiring most of Fox, fans are excited to see the "X-Men" films potentially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Fox has had the rights to "X-Men" for a long time now, which is why Marvel is unable to include any mutants in its films. However, with everything now under one umbrella, the idea of the "X-Men" characters meeting the likes of Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) is closer to becoming a reality.
There is a problem with that, though, since the MCU has been around for quite a while with no mention of mutants so far. It would be totally out of the blue to suddenly have mutants running around. But, according to Screen Rant, Thanos from the upcoming "Infinity War" has the ability to rewrite reality, thus opening a door to the inclusion of the X-Men. However, the crossover or unification could happen in "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" instead.

Of course, nothing can be confirmed at this point in time, except for what has already been said about the highly anticipated "X-Men" sequel. "Dark Phoenix," which primarily focuses on Sophie Turner's Jean Grey, is expected to shine a brighter light on female characters. This much was revealed by director and writer Simon Kinberg.
"I really wanted to acknowledge the strength of the women in the comic and in the actresses that we have and the central storyline demands it," Kinberg told Entertanment Weekly.
"It really is about her relationships with the females in the film, especially Jessica Chastain's character," Turner said about her character. "It's really interesting to have those two characters be kind of the two biggest characters in the movie and both be female and so layered and so complex."
Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Mystique, revealed that she enjoyed acting in "Dark Phoenix" the most out of all the "X-Men" films because the script is so well-written.
"He's been writing these characters for so long and he knows them so deeply," she told the same publication. "I suddenly felt more connected to my character than I ever have been before."
"X-Men: Dark Phoenix" will premiere in U.S. theaters on Nov. 2, 2018.
