Dad Wears Short Shorts to Teach Daughter 'Modest is Hottest'

When asked to change out of her short shorts, a teen daughter refused, prompting her father to put on a pair of his own short shorts to teach his daughter a lesson.

They were headed for a family outing on Monday, a day reserved for family only time. But when their teen daughter refused to change out of her short shorts, one Utah father decided it was time to take control. Instead of " turning her response and disrespectful attitude into a major battle" the father wrote on his wife's blog, he decided to teach his daughter a lesson instead.

The father marched up stairs, cut a pair of his own Daisy Dukes, and then insisted going out with the entire family. Together they went to dinner and miniature golf, the whole time with the father donning his short shorts in hopes of teaching his daughter a lesson about modesty.

"I know the world has varying degrees of what is modest and what is not when it comes to clothing. In our family we have pretty definite modesty guidelines," the Utah father wrote. "Having raised four daughters and three sons, I'm a bit protective. Some may call me old fashion, but I call it "A Dad who loves his daughters" (and sons too) I know some of you may be rolling your eyes and that's okay, my daughter does it all the time."

His daughter, who happens to be named Myley, at first refused to go to dinner with her father in short shorts, but eventually decided "not to care." When it came to milk shakes at the end of the night however, she refused to get out of the car. She did however put a photo of her father in his Daisy Duke's on Instagram. The photo has since gone viral across the Internet.

Even with all of the attention he got however, the father is afraid his lesson didn't really drive home.

"There was no "Dad I get it" or "Dad you're the best…. thanks for that awesome lesson." ? I don't think my object lesson of "modest is hottest" made the statement I had intended," he noted at the end of the blog but added at least "my daughter will always know that her dad loves her and cares about her enough to make a fool out of himself. [sic]"
