'Daredevil' Season 2 News, Spoilers: Charlie Cox Talks 'Punisher' Spin-off, Future Bullseye Storyline
Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) says that he "would love" to see The Punisher, the morally ambiguous vigilante who made his debut in "Daredevil" this season, get his own show.
The second season of "Daredevil" dropped on Netflix on Friday, March 18. In its sophomore run, the superhero series introduces two new key characters from the Marvel Comics. Frank Castle/The Punisher, played by "The Walking Dead" alum Jon Bernthal, has already began terrorizing Daredevil's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood and it won't be long before mercenary/Daredevil love interest Elektra (Elodie Yung) enters the fray.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has already seen the introduction of iconic characters such as Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter). The addition of The Punisher and Elektra in supporting roles and the announcement of "Game of Thrones" actor Finn Jones as Iron Fist has thrilled fans and incorporated even more superheroes from the source material to the ever-expanding MCU.

Screen Rant asked Cox, who plays lawyer-by-day vigilante-by-night Murdock, which of the characters from the Marvel Comics he would like to see in the Marvel-Netflix universe. Cox, who admitted that he has previously gotten in trouble for speculating on the future of "Daredevil," prefaced his answer with the statement that he has no idea what's in store for the show. Nevertheless, the actor revealed that having worked with Bernthal, he would love to see The Punisher get his own Netflix series.
"It's such a rich character and Jon embodies him in such a spectacular way," he said. "Fans are going to be overwhelmed and pleased with what he brought to the character so I'd love to see The Punisher get his own 13 episodes. And if he does, I'd love to be in it. I'd love Daredevil to make an appearance."
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cox spoke about what meeting The Punisher means for Daredevil. "What becomes clear to Matt, despite how different he feels, is that he and Frank Castle are very similar."
"A lot of the relationship that Matt and Frank build is based on this difference of opinion that ultimately results in Matt and Frank having to recognize that they're actually more similar than they are different," he revealed.
Cox also spoke about which villain he wants to see in future episodes of "Daredevil." "I can't imagine doing a run of Daredevil where Bullseye doesn't show up at some point," he told Screen Rant.
The second season of "Daredevil" is now streaming on Netflix.
