'Days of Our Lives' Spoilers for Thursday, January 28, 2016: Daniel Rests in Peace

The upcoming episode of "Days of Our Lives" promises a day of grief, tears, and sorrow, as the family finally puts Daniel to rest.

Following the tragedy that New Year's Eve brought to the families involved, Daniel (Shawn Christian) will finally be laid to rest. Abigail (Kate Mansi) will be JJ's (Casey Moss) crying shoulder, while the rest of the involved try in their own ways to grieve the beloved friend and loved one.

For those who are wondering why JJ is so affected with Dan's passing, it is worth noting that Daniel had been a father figure to the man many times and he has guided him through life as a teenager, making him one of the most special people in JJ's heart.

Unfortunately, Eric (Greg Vaughan) won't make it to his dear friend's funeral. Some legal responsibilities get in his way, but he will still make a way to remember the person who has been there for him in tough times.

Melanie (Molly Burnett) will be one of the most affected during this time. Not only does she have to start life once more without a father but she also has to deal with her heart. Spoilers reveal that poor Melanie will run into Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Theresa (Jen Lilley). As expected, she will feel the stab of pain in her heart when she realizes that the man she loved now has someone else.

Aside from accepting Brady's new romance, Melanie has to start coping with the story behind Brady's second life — unfortunately, her ex beau now holds her father's heart, which could mean that at times, she may feel her father's presence in Brady's appearance.

It is yet to be revealed how Brady, Theresa, and Melanie will deal with the possibility of awkward situations to follow, as the new couple are very well aware that Melanie's father saved Brady's life.

"Days of Our Lives" airs every weekday on NBC.
