Dell XPS 12: Microsoft Surface tablet's clone leaked

The Microsoft Surface may have found its fitting competitor in the form of the Dell XPS 12 tablet, which was recently leaked out.

The Dell XPS 12 is a 2-in-1 tablet that is similar to the Microsoft Surface. Dell is expected to unveil the device in October but it was leaked earlier than expected, according to Techno Buffalo.

Based on leaked photos, the Dell XPS 12 has an Ultrasharp 4K screen and "Dell Active" stylus that will allow users to take down notes and create drawings. It also comes with a magnetic keyboard with backlit keys that are reminiscent of the Dell XPS 13, which is considered one of the best Windows notebooks today, the report details.

The XPS 12 trumps Microsoft Surface in terms of display because it has a 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution and narrower bezels. Dell claims its precision touchpad functions "flawlessly." The 2-in-1 tablet will also sport an 8-megapixel rear snapper and a 5-megapixel front camera.

Microsoft's Surface has been plagued by keyboard issues, so the XPS 12 will gain a potential advantage over its rival if it is able to come out without any keyboard problems, The Verge reports.

Other features included in the XPS 12 are Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, preinstalled Windows 10, and stylus-friendly apps such as Bamboo Paper and OneNote. It will also be powered by a battery that can last up to 10 hours, the report relays.

The leaked slides, however, do not offer any information about the processor and RAM of the XPS 12, the report adds.

As of now, the leaked images, specs, and features of the XPS 12 are still not confirmed by Dell. Fans are set to learn more details on the new Dell tablet when its launch date draws nearer.

Dell's XPS 12 tablet is due to be unveiled in October.
