Splash to show a Merman's perspective

The Splash movie, which was originally produced by Walt Disney Studios in 1984, is a fantasy romantic movie about a young man who fell in love with a mermaid. A remake of the movie is in the works, reportedly with hunk actor Channing Tatum in the lead role.

According to reports, the remake is going to have a twist that's different from that of the original movie which starred Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah. In the remake, Channing Tatum will be playing the role of a merman. Basically, the plot is going to be a gender-flip.

Tatum will be working with 22 Jump Street co-star Jillian Bell. Originally, Splash revolved around a young man named Allen and a mermaid named Madison. In its remake, Bell will be playing the female version of Allen.

At an early age, Allen Bauer was saved by a mermaid while he was on the verge of drowning. That memory remained on Bauer's mind until he grew up. He decided to go back to the place where he almost drowned to refresh that tragic but memorable drowning experience.

By accident, he again fell into the sea, and was once again rescued by the mermaid. The mermaid, Madison, then decided to follow Bauer by disguising as a human. As they met, they fell in love, but Madison had this fear of having her cover blown.

The original film was produced by Ron Howard, who will be working once more with Brian Grazer on its remake along with the new casts and plots. The script of the film will be written by Maris-Lewis Ryan.

What to Expect from the Remake

Although there are no enough details announced yet, we could be expecting that with the presence of the gender-flipping plot, the remake will be narrated through the merman's point of view. It is believed that the Splash remake is going to be a highly anticipated film, compared to other gender flipping reboots like the 'Ghostbusters.'

Channing Tatum is not only known for his physique, but also for his talent in dancing and skills in acting. He has received praises for his performances in his previous films, including Step Up, 21 Jump Street, Magic Mike, Dear John, and The Vow among others. He is currently filming "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" scheduled for a release in June 2017. He will be starting to work on the movie "Logan Lucky" as well.

The announcement has fortunately earned a positive feedback from the audience, believing that Tatum and Bell will surely make the film a great thing to watch. Bell and Tatum were the lead stars of the movie 22 Jump Street in 2014.
