'Doctor Who' Christmas Special Spoilers: Alex Kingston Did Not Expect to Be Back
The Christmas special of the hit series "Doctor Who" is expected to bring a familiar face along with a new adventure.
It was reported that Alex Kingston will be reprising her role as River Song in the upcoming Christmas special of the series. River Song is known as the wife of the Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi. However, fans can expect more twists in their reunion.
The two are notorious for their interesting relationship, since the Doctor travels in different times. It was revealed that the upcoming episode will have River unfamiliar with the Doctor. Apparently, the Doctor will be traveling to a time when they have yet to meet.

However, the two will still be seen working together to face a robot manned by King Hydroflax, who is played by Greg Davies. King Hydroflax is described as an evil king who is part human and part cyborg.
Meanwhile, Kingston recently spoke to BBC about her upcoming appearance in the series. She stated, "It's a wonderful slapstick caper. There's a lot of great laughs, there's a lot of fabulous River one-liners. The fans are going to love the things she says and there's a lot of play."
Kingston also explained that she did not expect that she will be returning to the series. According to The Guardian, she stated, "I mean, it was never officially discussed, and I was never officially told, 'That's it.' But enough time had passed for me think, 'Well, that's that.' They'd done a season with a change of Doctor and there was no mention at all of my character coming back. And then I heard – through the fans, actually – that Steven [Moffat] had mentioned it, and Russell [T Davies] had mentioned what fun it might be if they were to explore River with Peter Capaldi's Doctor."
Titled "The Husbands of River Song," the "Doctor Who" Christmas Special episode will air on Dec. 25.
