'Doctor Who' Season 10: New Writers, New Enemies to Be Featured in Next Installment

"Doctor Who" season 10 will see Peter Capaldi return for at least another installment, and the series will feature new writers and new enemies for the Doctor.

Peter Capaldi did especially well in the second half of "Doctor Who" season 9, and it has now been confirmed that he will be back for season 10. However, Jenna Coleman, who plays the role of Clara, will not return for the next installment, according to Inverse.

Meanwhile, showrunner Steven Moffat has revealed that a total of 12 weekly episodes will be aired and a Christmas special will also be featured. The actual format of the season, however, is still up in the air, the report details.

One thing that viewers should expect in season 10 is the new array of enemies for the Doctor. The previous season has left fans with a lot of characters worth revisiting, including Rassmussen, the Fisher King, and Odin the alien Viking. Fans will have to stay tuned to find out who the Doctor will be fighting in the next installment of the series, the report relays.

Rumor has it that "Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson will join the "Doctor Who" crew. It is worth noting that Capaldi and Jackson were seen together in a video skit, prompting rumors that the latter would direct a few episodes on the show, CNET reports.

Moffat also has hinted that a slew of mind-blowing new writers will be involved in the next season, but he refused to divulge their names. Nevertheless, he promised that the prominent writers will make the series amazing. He said he had already met with the two new writers, the report adds.

"If I told you their names, your brain would explode," said Moffat.

In addition, the Doctor will reportedly have a full-time companion in season 10 of "Doctor Who." While Moffat says it will be someone new, Capaldi has teased that it will be Me, who is played by Maisie Williams.
