'Duck Dynasty' News: Reality Star Phil Robertson Calls Gay Marriage 'Evil,' Urged Crowd To Duck Call Donald Trump

Phil Robertson, the star of the American reality television series "Duck Dynasty" on A&E, recently took a stand for Texas senator and 2016 presidentiable Ted Cruz at the latter's campaign in Iowa City.

The family patriarch declared that being a religious man himself, he sees Cruz as the only candidate who could bring the US government back to the biblical principles. He particularly pointed out the country already hurling into moral collapse.

"When a fellow like me looks at the landscape and sees the depravity, the perversion -- redefining marriage and telling us that marriage is not between a man and a woman? Come on Iowa!" Robertson was quoted as saying by CNN.com.

The highly-conservative Christian went on to call gay marriage as "evil" and "wicked," a statement which met applause from the Iowan crowd. He also said that it was "nonsense" and "sinful."

In order to lift the country out from this mess, Robertson proposed that the current runners of the government who are for this kind of domestic partnership should be driven out from their seats. He said, "We have to run this bunch out of Washington, D.C. We have to rid the earth of them. Get them out of there."

The founder of Duck Commander, meanwhile, urged the crowd to duck call Cruz's opponent in the race, Republican candidate, Donald Trump.

"Everybody's got a duck call. Put 'em in your lips and let's call old Donald Duck and try to get him to do the debate," Roberson said, as cited over at TheHill.com.

Cruz reportedly challenged Trump to a debate after the latter's no-show at the Fox News debate session on Thursday. He revealed that he has already reserved the Western Iowa Tech for the event which he said could last for up to two hours.

Trump did not accept the invitation.

"Duck Dynasty" airs Wednesdays at 9:30/8:30c on A&E.
